Unlike the other consoles, frame rate occasionally drops a little bit below 30 fps and there are frame time aberrations that produce some visual judder. Background art is often missing, and motion blur isn’t there at all. Particle and fire effects that contribute quite a bit to MK11’s intense combat are markedly curtailed or completely absent. Nintendo’s console uses noticeably lower resolution textures. However, the action in MK11 is so fast it’s unlikely you’ll notice. The major difference lies in increased pixilation and banding on motion blur effects on the One S and PS4. Visual quality outside of resolution is fairly consistent across the Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Mortal Kombat 11 just doesn’t look very good on the Switch although the small handheld screen offsets the poor resolution to some extent when playing in undocked mode. On the other, the loss in resolution is really stark.
